Features of the Klarus XT12S Tactical Flashlight

There’s so much to talk about with the XT12S. We’re excited to see a compact tactical flashlight that delivers between 1000 and 2000 lumens. Especially one that has such a long beam distance. Powerful Tactical Flashlight

Just like the XT12GT, the XT12S is a big thrower. It’s equipped with a CREE XHP35 HI D4 LED and delivers a maximum output of 1600 lumens and a maximum beam distance of 402 meters which is amazingly impressive in such a compact flashlight! With the four brightness levels you can use the XT12S in many different situations. The brightness levels are Turbo (1600 lumens), High (400 lumens), Medium (100 lumens), and Low (10 lumens). It also features two flashing modes (strobe and SOS) which are great for an emergency situation. Some flashlight enthusiasts argue which flashing mode is best - strobe or SOS. With the XT12S you don’t need to pick since you have access to both.

The XT12S is operated using the dual tactical tail switch. With this switch, it’s easy to operate this flashlight single handed and even in the dark. The user interface on this flashlight is incredibly intuitive and feels comfortably quickly.

Two Settings - Tactical and Outdoor

With the XT12S you have two programmable settings to choose from. You have the Tactical Setting where the main switch gives you access to the Momentary-ON into the Turbo mode and turns the flashlight ON and OFF and the secondary switch gives you instant strobe when pressed and held down and allows you to cycle through the brightness levels. This program is great for tactical and general use.

The secondary switch gives you instant low when pressed and held down and lets you cycle through the brightness levels. This setting is great for any outdoor activity or even general use if you find yourself using the low brightness level frequently.

With these settings you can pick your favorite and keep you XT12S in that setting or you can switch between them depending on your situation. Both settings are excellent and definitely have practical uses.

Rechargeable Tactical Flashlight

The Klarus XT12S is rechargeable using the magnetic charging port! It charges the flashlight quickly and efficiently and it comes with the USB magnetic charging cable so you don’t need to worry about purchasing it separately. When you’re charging the XT12S, the indicator will glow red when the battery is charging, green when it’s finished charging, and orange when something is wrong with the charging process.

The charging port also doubles as a battery capacity indicator. It glows green when the battery is over 70% charged, orange when it’s 30-70% charged, red when it’s 10-30% charged, and flashes red when it’s under 10% charged. This tactical flashlight does come with the Klarus 18GT-36 18650 battery with a 3600mAh capacity. However, it can run on any single 18650 battery or a pair of CR123 batteries, though it may not be as powerful.

The XT12S has a body diameter of one inch so you can easily mount this flashlight on a weapon using a standard gun mount. With the focused beam, the power, and the intuitive user interface this tactical flashlight will easily become your go-to weapon light.

Klarus made certain that the XT12S was built to last and to be used safely. The body is crafted from aerospace aluminum alloy with a hard anodized finish and is built to dissipate the heat from the LED. It also has an Intelligent Temperature Protection System (ITS) that monitors the internal temperature and adjusts the output accordingly. This protects the LED and internal components and ensures safety and stability in your XT12S.

The XT12S also has front and rear internally mounted springs to protect the battery from impacts. In fact, the XT12S is impact resistant up to 1 meter and is waterproof up to IPX8 standards. The IPX8 standards means that you can drop the XT12S into 2 meters of water for 30 minutes and the flashlight will still work just fine!
