The Klarus XT11GT Vs. The XT11S

For this year, Klarus released the amazing XT11S and then, just a few months later, released an upgraded version called the XT11GT! Because the XT11GT is the upgraded version, there are many similarities between these two flashlights so I want to take a moment and discuss the differences so you’re well informed and can choose between the two flashlights.

Features of the XT11S and XT11GT Extreme Tactical Flashlights

So let’s talk a bit about the features of these flashlights first for those who don’t know much about these awesome torches. Both the XT11S and XT11GT share these features:

  • Tactical flashlight with removable pocket clip and bezel
  • Has three switches: dual-tactical tail switch and a side switch
  • Has a lock out function for the side switch
  • Has four brightness levels and two specialty modes (Strobe and SOS)
  • Instant Strobe, Turbo and Low-light
  • Has a built-in memory function that remembers the last brightness level used
  • Has three programmable settings
  • Is USB rechargeable
  • Features a battery power indicator in the side switch
  • Can be mounted on a standard gun mount
  • Can have Klarus filters placed on them
  • Has smart ITS temperature control
  • Is impact and water resistant

Ok so from all these features you can already tell that the XT11S and the XT11GT are incredible flashlights. Thy have way more similarities than differences, but those differences could mean quite a bit to you so let’s explore them in detail

Differences of the XT11S and XT11GT Extreme Tactical Flashlights

The LED and Lumen Output

So the XT11S features a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED while the XT11GT features a CREE XHP35 HI D4 LED. Because of this the XT11S delivers 1100 lumens whereas the XT11GT delivers 2000 lumens. One thing to keep in mind though, is that the XT11S has a 2 hour runtime in the Turbo mode and the XT11GT has only a one hour runtime. If you are looking for something with an intense amount of power than the XT11GT is for you. However, if you want a longer lasting Turbo mode than the XT11S is the way to go.

The Beam Throw

Once again, due to the difference in LEDs the maximum beam throw between these two lights will differ as well. The XT11S has a maximum beam throw of 330 meters which is more than adequate. You would be amazed by how far that flashlight shines and how clearly you can see through the darkness. The XT11GT, on the other hand, trumps the XT11S by having a maximum beam throw of 402 eters! That’s almost 1320 feet!

The Dimensions and Weight

There is a slight difference in the length and weight of these two tactical flashlights. The XT11S is a little smaller at 139 mm. The XT11GT is 142.6mm in length so the difference between the two is barely noticeable. However, if you’re persnickety about the size of your flashlight then it’s important to know. The XT11GT is also slightly heavier than the XT11S. The XT11GT is 130 grams (about 4.6 ounces) and the XT11S is 115 grams (about 4.1 ounces).

The Programmable Settings

Funnily enough, the programmable settings of the XT11GT and the XT11S are exactly the same. The only difference are the names of the settings. I think it’s important to clarify that the settings are the same though because the names could throw you off.
