Tactical Flashlight Review of the ShadowHawk X800 Flashlight and the G700 Flashlight
We’ve all seen them by now. Those Google ads saying things like “Military leaks new LED technology! Meet the brightest flashlight ever!” Sounds exciting right? But let’s be honest, it’s more than likely not true. In fact, I’m not even sure what the picture in that advertisement is doing. If your flashlight is smoking green, blue, purple, or any color really, you should stop using it immediately.
So I’d like to break down each flashlight, but here’s the truth about the ShadowHawk X800 and the G700. They’re more or less the same flashlight with a different price and a different name (sometimes). While you can purchase these flashlights on Amazon for a fairly cheap price, around $20 or so, if you go to the wrong website you could end up dishing out $50 or more for a flashlight that’s worth $10. In fact, if you go to Lumitac’s website to purchase the G700 tactical flashlight you’ll be spending $224! If you’re considering purchasing one of these flashlights, I highly recommend you shop around or, better yet, do a Google search for “G700 scam” and see what you find.
Let’s take a look at a few similarities between the G700 and the Shadowhawk. First of all, the body design looks exactly the same. They’re about the same size, the G700 is 5.3” in length and the Shadowhawk is 5.5” in length. Both of them have the tail switch to operate, the adjustable head with the numbers on it, and look pretty much the same. So both of the flashlights we’ve been talking about (and more to be honest) look pretty similar. Eerily similar. If you go to eBay and search “XML T6 ZOOM” you’ll find tons of variations on the G700 and at multiple different prices.
They also both have 5 brightness modes and the Shadowhawk boasts that it delivers 800 lumens according to an Amazon listing I found. The G700 boasts that it delivers 700 lumens or 1000 lumens, depending on where you read about it! I went to the Lumitac website and it said the G700 delivers 700 lumens, but on an Amazon listing, it said 1000 lumens. We’ll be looking into that in a moment.
XML T6 Zoomable Flashlight LED
So first, let’s talk about the LED in these tactical flashlights like the G700 flashlight. You’ll find that most of these flashlights use cheap CREE knock off brands such as Lattice Bright. If you’d like to see more of a difference between CREE and Lattice Bright you can visit this site here which goes into great detail. I’ll just be giving a short description of the difference. First, CREE LEDs will usually emit a white or off-white color. This allows you to see clearly and will look significantly brighter than the bluish tint of the G700 or Shadowhawk tactical flashlight.
As you can see in Advanced Knife Bro’s Youtube Review below and in my screenshots of his review, the G700 falls quite a bit short of what it boasts to deliver. 1000 lumens is a great amount of power when you’re using a CREE LED flashlight. But when you’re using a knock-off CREE flashlight, the power doesn’t deliver as much. If you’re looking for high-quality and powerful, make sure you find ANSI lumens in the specs of any flashlights. Any flashlight that has ANSI lumens on it has been standardized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
So when I go to Amazon and type in “G700 Tactical Flashlight” there are tons of flashlights that pop up. And I can’t help but notice many are from completely different companies such as Meco, SolarRay or TotalLohan. Some of them don’t even have a brand name on them! The flashlight market is saturated with these lights such as the Shadowhawk tactical flashlight. Before you buy a tactical flashlight, make sure you do some research to find out if the flashlight is from a reliable company and if their products are truly high-quality. Read reviews, watch youtube videos, and learn!
True High-Quality Tactical Flashlights
Many amazing brands sell tactical flashlights such as Klarus, MecArmy, ArmyTec, Nitecore, Fenix, Surefire, and more. Each brand puts their own warranty behind their products, knowing that it will deliver what it promised. Many flashlight users will pick a few favorite brands and stick with them.
With high-quality tactical flashlights, companies won’t fool you with the power or beam throw of any products. All of them will be transparent and show you the specs of each product up-front so you can see how many lumens each brightness mode is, how many brightness modes there are, how long the run times are, etc. You’ll also see, usually somewhere on the box of the product or in the specs, “ANSI” or “ANSI/NEMA FL1”. This is a good thing! This is referring to a set of flashlight performance guidelines. FL1 standards allow you to compare tactical flashlights and give you peace of mind knowing that the information you’re receiving is accurate. Flashlight companies don’t have to adhere to the FL1 standards so it says a lot when you see a flashlight company does.

So now you know the truth about the XML T6 Zoomable flashlights. The G700 tactical flashlight and the Shadowhawk tactical flashlight aren’t worth more than $10. When in doubt, go to flashlight forums such as Budget Light Forum or Candle Power Forum where you can ask for advice and find out what tactical flashlights other people are using.
