So we thought we’d compile a list of awesome flashlights that are reliable, durable, and long-lasting! Of course, these flashlights are varied so it’s up to the mechanic to decide which flashlight is the best fit. While some people prefer having a flashlight they can easily hold in their hands others prefer a smaller flashlight that can clip onto a key chain and some prefer headlamps so they don’t even need to worry about carrying a flashlight.
1. Klarus AR10
So the first flashlight that comes to mind is the Klarus AR10. It is truly an incredible and useful flashlight that has an adjustable hed with a beam angle of up to 90° which can be incredibly useful when looking into small spaces and working under a car hood. It also has a magnetic tail cap that you can affix to metal surfaces for hands-free illumination. This flashlight is a little over 5.5 inches (144mm) so it can easily fit in or clip on a pocket.
2. Klarus FL18
The FL18 is an interesting and handy flashlight that serves as a spotlight and a lantern. So you can use the spotlight to search for something specific in the car or you can turn on the lantern and set it down to illuminate your work. It is also rechargeable using a magnetic charging cable so there’s no worry about having to change the battery out. For added bonus, this flashlight also has a Red and Green LED. The FL18 is around 6.5 inches (164mm) so it can still fit comfortably in a pocket.
3. Klarus FL1A
If you’re looking for a smaller flashlight than the ones discussed above then the Klarus FL1A might be the flashlight for you! At around 3.5 inches (91.5mm), the FL1A can easily fit in a pocket or on a keychain. It serves as an excellent little lantern and has Red, Green, and UV LED outputs as well as a primary LED. The Fl1A also has a memory mode that will remember the last mode you used.
4. Fenix HL50
The Fenix HL50 is a compact headlamp with a maximum output of 365 lumens. It’s constructed from high quality stainless steel and aluminum alloy making it incredibly durable and even waterproof! The HL50 uses either one CR123 Lithium battery or one AA battery so you can choose whichever battery you prefer to use.
5. Fenix HL55
The Fenix HL55 is another compact headlamp with a maximum output of 900 lumens so it’s incredibly powerful. You can use either two CR123 Lithium batteries or you can use a rechargeable 18650 Lithium-Ion battery. The HL55 has a single side switch for power, burst, and output selection. It can also stand harsh weather including humidity, storms, and harsh cold winds.
