Best Flashlights for Everyday Carry
As we begin to settle into the New Year it’s time to take account of all our tools and figure out what we need and what it’s time to get rid of or replace. For me, this starts with my everyday carry tools. It’s important to make sure your EDC tools are always ready to go and working the best that they can be. Klarus came out with some amazing EDC flashlights that you can rely on everyday. They’ve come out with enough EDC lights that there’s definitely one for everybody. Each light has its own unique features that make it awesome. Let’s take a look at some of Klarus’ EDC flashlights.
Klarus Mi7
When Klarus first came out with the Mi7 we were so impressed! The Mi7 is such a small flashlight and can deliver up to 700 lumens! It can run on either a AA battery or a 14500 lithium ion battery. It’s important to know that to get the full 700 lumens you will need an 14500 battery. With an AA battery you’ll get about half the power. Regardless, it’s great that you can use a more powerful battery or you can use a common and inexpensive battery.
The Mi7 is packed with features for such a small light. It has a stainless steel side switch that you can lock out if you’d like and it comes with a handy little pocket clip so you can easily carry it with you. With its three brightness levels ranging from 5 - 700 lumens (with the 14500 battery), you have a lot of versatility. It also features a strobe and an SOS mode that are easy to access so it has your back in an emergency situation. You can take advantage of the built-in memory function and conserve the battery as well as monitor the charge of the battery using the battery capacity indicator.
One thing you’ll noticed about the Mi7 is the orange peel textured shallow lens. This allows the beam pattern to be very diffused giving you a great light for upclose work. You also have a variety of colors to choose from with the Mi7 so you can get one that matches your taste, including a titanium one. You’re also able to tail stand this flashlight so you can use it as a lantern and work with both your hands. So you have an awesome option with the Mi7 as an EDC light.
Klarus Mi1C
Shorter, but wider than the Mi7, the Mi1C is another excellent everyday carry flashlight. It delivers up to 600 lumens and is perfectly small enough to clip onto your pocket with the handy pocket clip or even just fit into a bag. The Mi1C runs on a 16340 battery or a CR123 battery, however it won’t hit the 600 lumens on a CR123 battery. Thankfully, the Mi1C comes with a 16340 battery that can be charged via a micro-USB. So you don’t even need to get a battery charger.
The Mi1C has a professional grade optical lens that delivers a soft and even diffused light with no hot spot. It also has a unique feature where the flashlight fades on and fades off giving your eyes more of a chance to adjust to the difference in brightness. There are times when turning on a flashlight (especially onto the turbo level) that it can overwhelm your eyes and disorient you. With the Mi1C you won’t need to worry about that.
With the four brightness levels and the two flashing modes, the Mi1C is very versatile. It’s a great go-to light for a variety of purposes from casual use, professional use, and more. With it’s built-in memory function and battery capacity indicator, the Mi1C is all about convenience. It also features a magnetic tail cap so you can affix the Mi1C to any metal surface and illuminate an area. This feature is especially useful when you’re working and require both hands as well as light. You can also tail stand the Mi1C and use it as a lantern. This flashlight is one amazing everyday carry flashlight!
Klarus P20
This next EDC light is actually a penlight and is quite unique. The P20 is small enough that you can easily carry it around in your pocket, but it’s fairly powerful and delivers up to 230 lumens. It features a Nichia High CRI LED that delivers a very soft light, similar to natural lighting. Along with the high performance optical lens, the P20 delivers a very soft diffused beam. The light is so soft that the lowest brightness level is safe enough to shine in someone’s eyes without causing any damage.
The P20 is operated using a single tail switch and has three brightness levels ranging from 4 - 230 lumens. With the built-in memory function, you can ensure that the flashlight turns on in the same brightness level you turned it off in. For any EDC light, this is a very handy feature. It also runs on two AAA batteries and includes a pair as well. The P20 is such a great EDC flashlight whether you’re a student, doctor, nurse, parent, or what have you.
Klarus Mi6
The Mi6 is a powerful and handy keychain flashlight. It’s less than 2.5 inches in length so it won’t be too bulky on your keyring. It delivers 120 lumens has features an optical TIR lens that diffuses the light allowing you to work up close with its soft flood beam. It’s simple to operate with its twist switch design and you have two brightness levels to choose from so you have a little variety.
The Mi6 runs on a single AAA battery, which gives you a good idea as to how small it is. The user interface is so simple and the flashlight is so inexpensive that it makes a great gift for a beginner flashlight user or a more seasoned flashlight user. It’s especially great for anyone who is wanting to everyday carry a flashlight for the first time. With Klarus high-quality craftsmanship and the reasonable price of the Mi6, you can’t go wrong with this EDC light.
Klarus Mini One
This Klarus Mini One is a mini keychain light and is a little bigger than 1.5 inches so you can confidently put it on your keyring without worrying about adding bulk or weight. Despite its size, the Mini One is powerful and delivers up to 130 lumens. The TIR optic lens with a textured surface allows the beam to be softly diffused so as not to overwhelm your eyes. This is perfect for any EDC light.
It’s also operated using a twist switch and features two brightness levels. The switch design makes it easy for you to cycle between levels with a single hand. The Mini One runs on a single 10180 lithium-ion battery that is included. It is a USB rechargeable flashlight which is incredibly convenient since the battery is so tiny. Along with that you have charging indicator to let you know when the battery is charging and when it’s finished. Because it’s so tiny and so simple to use, the Mini One is a great EDC flashlight.
