Best New Everyday Carry Flashlight: Klarus Mi1C

For the rest of this year we can expect to see more flashlights coming from Klarus and we’re excited to talk about every single one of them. Recently, they released the Klarus Mi1C, a little pocket monster, to say the least. Klarus has been recently more tactical flashlights so it’s exciting to see a new everyday carry flashlight. You can pre-order the new Klarus Mi1C here! It’s expected to ship on September 25th.

Features of the Klarus Mi1C

We’re always excited to share all the features each flashlight down to the littlest details. The Mi1C is no different. The Mi1C is a particularly awesome everyday carry flashlight because it’s so compact. Believe it or not, this flashlight is barely over two inches in length and less than one inch in width. It can easily fit into a pocket, especially with the handy little pocket clip that it comes with. This flashlight has many features that will impress! So let’s get started and talk about them.

Ultra Bright Everyday Carry Flashlight

The Mi1C is equipped with a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED and delivers a maximum output of 600 lumens with a maximum beam distance of 40 meters. 600 lumens is incredibly bright for such a small light that’s barely over two inches and can easily be carried around. Having that much power in a small flashlight can definitely come in handy! However, you probably won’t need the 600 lumens every time. Thankfully, the Mi1C features six total outputs which gives you a lot of versatility in a light. When equipped with a 16340 lithium-ion battery the brightness levels are: high (600 lumens), medium (45 lumens), low (10 lumens), and moonlight (1 lumen). More often than not, you might find yourself using the medium or low levels more frequently. Some users really love the moonlight levels that are 1 lumen because they provide an adequate amount of illumination while conserving the battery.

Along with the four brightness levels, you also have a strobe mode and an SOS mode. Both modes are excellent to have just in case of an emergency. We heard a story of a man who walked his dog every night and one day came across a coyote. He used the strobe mode and was able to scare the coyote away. If you find yourself walking in a parking lot at night or doing anything outside at night, to be honest, having that strobe mode really gives you peace of mind because you know you’ll be prepared.

The SOS mode, on the other hand, is another great feature to have in any flashlight. It’s a flashing mode that lasts a long time and can signal for help. This mode is beloved among outdoor enthusiasts and it’s easy to see why. This emergency flashing mode also gives you peace of mind, knowing that you’re prepared for whatever may come.

Easy to Operate Everyday Carry Flashlight

The Klarus Mi1C is a simple flashlight to operate using the single side switch. Before I talk about the user interface, I want to mention that the Mi1C does have a built-in memory function that will remember the last brightness level you had the flashlight in. The Mi1C starts in the moonlight mode whenever it’s turned on so you can pick which brightness level you prefer the flashlight ot turn onto.

Now, here is the user interface: click the side switch to turn on the flashlight (it turns onto the moonlight mode or whatever mode you last had it in and cycles up), click to cycle through the brightness levels, and long press the side switch to turn the flashlight off. Double tap the side switch to enter the strobe mode and double click again while in the strobe mode to enter the SOS mode. You can immediately access the moonlight level at anytime when the flashlight is OFF by long pressing the side switch.

To make certain the Mi1C doesn’t accidentally turn on in your pocket, there is a lock out function. With any EDC light this function is often necessary. It can be really annoying having your flashlight continually turn on in your pocket or accidentally turn on in your bag. The lock out function is easy to access. Simply hold the side switch down for five seconds and the switch will be locked out. To get out of the lock out mode, simply triple tap the switch and you’re good to go!

Unique Aspects of the Mi1C

There are many unique aspects of the Mi1C. The first we want to talk about is the professional grade optical lens that disperses the light evenly, displaying a soft flood. When you turn on the flashlight, it fades-on and fades-off when you turn the flashlight off to make it easier on your eyes and night vision. When you’re in the dark and you turn on a flashlight it often can shock you, even affecting your vision for a moment. And as the light fades-off when you turn the Mi1C off, it allows your eyes to more easily adjust to the darkness again.

Another unique feature of the Mi1C is the magnetic tail cap. With this interesting feature, you can affix the flashlight to any metal surface and illuminate the area completely hands-free. So attach it to the hood of your car and it’ll illuminate the area you’re working in. Or you can affix it to a pipe or whatever you need, and keep working with both hands!

The Mi1C comes with a really awesome Klarus 16340 battery. It has a micro USB port on the battery so you can take the battery out and charge it. So while the Mi1C isn’t rechargeable, the battery it comes with is making it very convenient. You can equip the Mi1C with a CR123 battery as well. However, the high mode will be a high of 305 lumens rather than 600 lumens.

The Mi1C is a Klarus flashlight that will quickly become your new favorite EDC flashlight! Be sure to pre-order it here! It’s expected to ship on September 25th.
