Comparing the XT11S to the XT11
Share
It’s time for a little compare and contrast between the tried and true Klarus XT11 tactical flashlight and the new advanced Klarus XT11S tactical flashlight. Both flashlights are incredible and both have their uses. So let’s start by looking at the XT11 flashlight.
This compact flashlight is less than 6 inches (5.8”) and fits comfortably in your hand. With its CREE XM L2 LED, the XT11 has a maximum output of 1060 lumens. It has a body diameter of 1 inch allowing it to fit on most standard gun mounts. The XT11 is incredibly user friendly with a dual-tactical tail switch, three brightness levels, and a flashing strobe mode. The dual tactical tail switch has a main switch that turns ON and OFF the flashlight and a secondary switch that cycles through the brightness levels and allows immediate access to the strobe mode. Unfortunately, the XT11 is not rechargeable, but you can equip the XT11 with a rechargeable 18650 battery or two CR123 batteries. The XT11 even comes with an 18650 battery.
Now onto the XT11S! It is also a compact flashlight at around 5.5 inches, so there’s not too big of a length difference between the XT11S and the XT11. The XT11S is equipped with a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED and a maximum output of 1100 lumens. It also has a body diameter of one inch so it fits on most standard gun mounts. The XT11S also has four brightness levels and an SOS mode and a strobe mode. Two major differences are the XT11S has a dual-tactical tail switch and a side switch and is rechargeable with a USB port located on the side of the flashlight. However, the truly incredible feature of the XT11S is the programmable modes. The Conventional mode, which is the default mode, allows you to operate the flashlight in all the brightness levels and the modes and allows you to use both the tail switch and side switch to activate the flashlight. The Hunting mode allows you to operate the flashlight in the high and low brightness levels and the strobe mode can only be activated using the side switch. Finally, the Ultimate Tactical mode is operated by only the tail switch and is only operable in the turbo brightness level and the strobe mode.
With all these programmable modes in mind, the XT11S is truly a technologically advanced flashlight. However, if you’re looking for a basic tactical flashlight, then the XT11 might be the better decision. It all depends on the user and what the user is most comfortable with. While some people love all the programmable modes others prefer a more user-friendly flashlight without all the bells and whistles.
