Klarus XT21X - The 4000 Lumen Tactical Flashlight

Many of you have heard about Klarus’ newest tactical flashlight, the XT21X. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, this is Klarus’ most powerful tactical flashlight yet! For this blog post, I’m going to talk about the XT21X flashlight in detail so that you know the ins and outs of this torch. It has a lot of features to explore that make this light extremely robust and versatile. So without further delay, let’s jump into this flashlight.

Brightest Tactical Flashlight

As I mentioned before, the XT21X is Klarus’ brightest tactical flashlight! They really went all out with the power on this torch. It delivers 4000 lumens and features a wide dispersed beam that allows you to see everything around you. It’s equipped with a CREE XHP70.2 P2 LED and has an orange peel textured reflector. This reflector is what gives you that wonderfully dispersed light. So the XT21X is not a throw light, but it does disperse that 4000 lumens beautifully.

I also want to take a second and talk about the look and size of the XT21X. It's a little bit bigger than your standard compact tactical flashlight such as the XT11GT, but it is still compact enough to carry with you. The XT21X is less than 6.5 inches in length and the head diameter is a little over 1.5 inches. So it does come with a removable pocket clip, but it may still be a bit too bulky to carry in your pocket. This is where that handy holster comes in and we'll talk about that later. Either way, the holster allows you to easily carry this flashlight as does the pocket clip.

The XT21X features a textured body that prevents the flashlight from slipping from your fingers. It has a really unique design on the body of it that we haven't seen before in a Klarus flashlight. We definitely like the look of it. The XT21X is also comes with a smaller bezel on top of the head. This will protect the LED and also can be used for self-defense if necessary. All-in-all, this flashlight feels sturdy in your hands.

Rechargeable Tactical Flashlight

There are several big selling points with this tactical flashlight and the maximum output is one of them. However another impressive feature of the XT21X is its recharging function as well as the included 21700 lithium-ion battery. 21700 batteries are extremely powerful and allow a flashlight to provide a higher output for longer periods of time. Using the included 21700 battery, you can see a maximum run time of 200 hours in the moonlight mode.

This flashlight has a micro USB port located on the side that is covered by a silicone protector. You can easily plug any micro USB cable into the flashlight and let the battery charge away. The XT21X features a 2A USB fast charging which means that it will charge quite quickly. Along the side switch you'll see an indicator that will go red while the flashlight is charging and green when it's finished. That same indicator will glow different colors for a few seconds when you first turn on the flashlight, indicating how much battery life is left. With the indicator and charging function, this flashlight is extremely convenient whether you’re using it for tactical purposes, outdoor purposes, or general purposes.

Versatile User Interface and Multiple Outputs

Another excellent aspect of the XT21X is that you can choose how you want to operate it. It features a triple switch design with dual tail switches and a side switch that functions independently. This means that you're welcome to use the tail switches or the side switch to operate the flashlight whenever you choose. With the tail switches, you'll get a more tactical usage with a momentary on, an instant turbo, and an instant strobe or an instant low. With the side switch, you'll be getting a built-in memory mode as well as an instant low. This is a very robust user interface, but after playing around with the flashlight for a bit, you'll pick it up pretty easily.

There are several outputs that include five brightness levels as well as a strobe mode and an SOS mode. Along with the outputs, the XT21X tactical flashlight also features two programmable settings. The settings will only affect the tail switches and the side switch will remain the same. In the Tactical Setting, the tail switches will give you a One-Touch Strobe and will cycle through four out of five of the brightness levels. In the Outdoor Setting, the tail switches will give you an instant low and will cycle through all five of the brightness levels. With these two settings you can really choose how you would like to operate this LED flashlight. These settings are great to use in a variety of situations and it's fairly easy to switch between them.

Durable Tactical Flashlight

We've covered a lot about the XT21X, but believe it or not, we're not finished. This high intensity flashlight has several safety features in place to make sure that it's running at its best without causing any damage to the flashlight. It features an Intelligent Temperature Control System that will automatically monitor the internal temperature of the flashlight and will adjust the output accordingly That way you don't need to worry about the flashlight overheating and destroying the LED or the internal electrical components. It also features overcurrent protection, overcharge protection, reverse polarity pressure, and overvoltage protection. This means, you don't have much to worry about when it comes to this flashlight.

Not only did Klarus consider safety, they also considered durability. The XT21X is constructed from an aerospace aluminum alloy with a hard anodized finish. This material is extremely sturdy and very lightweight. The XT21X is impact resistant up to 1 meter and is IPX8 waterproof. Thanks to the extremely sturdy build of the XT21X, this tactical flashlight is meant to last a long time.

Lots of Flashlight Goodies

With most tactical flashlights today, you'll often find several accessories that come with them. The XT21X definitely has a few accessories worth mentioning. I already talked about the included 21700 battery that comes with this flashlight. It has a 5000mAh capacity and it is Klarus branded. It also comes with a removable pocket clip, a USB charging cable, a lanyard, and a spare o-ring. That extra o-ring is important because that helps to make the flashlight waterproof just in case you lose the o-ring that is already on the flashlight. One of the greatest accessories this light comes with is the holster. This holster is sturdy and flexible, but what's really amazing about it is that it has a little cup at the bottom of the holster where the tail cap of the flashlight will sit. This cup prevents the flashlight from turning on accidentally. It is a really great holster and we're hoping to see more of this type of holster from Klarus flashlights.
