Klarus XT32 - A New Searchlight

Klarus XT32 - A New Searchlight

As the new year begins we’re always excited to see what new flashlights will be coming out. For those of you who follow flashlight brands newest products, you may know that this week is Shot Show where brands will often show off their newest product releases for the year. One such brand we’re excited to see is Klarus. They really wowed us in 2017 and we’re expecting great things from them in 2018. Luckily we didn’t have to wait to find out what their first flashlight of 2018 is. Say hello to Klarus’ first release of 2018: the Klarus XT32. This awesome new flashlight may become your go-to search light or hunting flashlight.

Features of the Klarus XT32

So let’s get into the details of the XT32. This fairly compact flashlight can deliver up to 1200 lumens, but the really impressive feature of this light is that it has a maximum beam distance of 1000 meters! Can you even imagine that kind of distance this thing can reach?! The XT32 features a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED and, paired with the deep smooth reflector, this LED gives the flashlight its power and throw. If you’ll notice above, I said the flashlight is fairly compact. What I mean is it’s compact for it’s beam throw. At 9.5 inches in length, this flashlight is not the easiest to carry around. However, the included holster makes it easier by far.

User Interface

Of course, this flashlight has more than a powerful beam throw to offer. It’s packed to the brim with features making it a versatile, convenient, and practical LED flashlight. To start with, the XT32 has dual tail switches as well as a side switch that work independently giving you the option to choose which way you’d prefer operating the flashlight. While you can operate the flashlight using the switches you’d prefer, the switches have their own unique functions that are important to know. For example, the side switch has a lockout function to prevent any accidental illumination. So if you’d prefer not to use the side switch or want to keep it in your bag and not worry about it clicking on, this function is great to use. The side switch also features a built-in memory function allowing you to turn the flashlight onto the last brightness level you used. This function is particularly excellent for outdoor activities, housework, professional work, and more.

You can take advantage of the four brightness levels the XT32 has to offer. You have turbo at 1200 lumens, high at 400 lumens, medium at 100 lumens, and low at 20 lumens. One criticism we’ve often seen in some Klarus flashlights is that they don’t have a moonlight mode. A moonlight mode is usually around 1-5 lumens. So I’m surprised to see that the lowest brightness level on the XT32 is 20 lumens. For many tasks, 20 lumens is actually perfect, giving you enough light to get the job done while conserving your battery. In fact, on fully charged batteries, the low brightness level can last up to 120 hours! The XT32 also features a strobe and an SOS mode so you’ll always be prepared.

Programmable Settings

The XT32 features two operation settings making it even more versatile. You have the Tactical Setting and the Hunting Setting. Both of these settings are incredibly useful and you can choose to stick with one setting or you can easily change between the settings depending on your situation. The Tactical Setting has a one-touch turbo, one-touch strobe, and easy brightness level cycling. This particular setting is great for everyday use, law enforcement, security, and more. If you’re wanting that immediate access to the strobe mode then this setting may be your pick.

The Hunting Setting, on the other hand, has one-touch turbo, one-touch low, and easy brightness level cycling. This mode is great for camping, hiking, hunting, professional use, and everyday use. If you find yourself requiring the low brightness level more frequently then this setting may be the perfect setting for you. Not to mention that the XT32 can be mounted on a rifle using a gun mount. If you purchase or already own the TRS1 remote pressure switch, then you’re already ready to go! You can also find filters to enhance your hunting experience.

Batteries

This LED flashlight runs on two 18650 batteries or four CR123 batteries. It’s always positive when a flashlight can use more than one kind of battery. So if you need to charge your 18650 batteries you can equip the XT32 with CR123 batteries and continue to use it. The side switch also doubles as a battery capacity indicator letting you know the general charge of the battery. When it glows green the battery is over 70% charged. When it glows orange it’s 30-70% charged, when it glows red it’s 10-30% charged, and when it is flashing red it’s under 10% charged and it’s time to consider changing out the batteries. The XT32 has great runtimes so you’ll be able to use it for a while before you’ll need to change the batteries out.

Durable and Rugged

For those of you who own a Klarus flashlight, you know how durable and rugged they are. The Klarus XT32 is no different. It’s constructed from 6061-T6 aerospace grade aluminum alloy with a hard anodized finish. The aluminum is sturdy and helps to dissipate the heat the LED dishes out. Along with the heat dissipation grooves you can see on the side, the XT32 can definitely take the heat. It also features an ITS temperature control system that monitors the temperature of the flashlight and decreases the output as is necessary to protect the internal components and LED and keep the flashlight performing at its best. With the front and rear mounted springs, the batteries are protected from any accidental drops making the XT32 impact resistant up to 1 meter. It’s also waterproof up to IPX8 standards so it can stand even the harshest rain storm.

This flashlight is definitely impressive and we’re excited to see it in action! You can read more about it on the Klarus XT32 product page.
