Tactical Flashlights for Self-Defense Part Two

Tactical Flashlights for Self-Defense Part Two

Welcome to part 2! In this blog we’ll have the second half of the Tactical Flashlights for Self-Defense list that we started last week. If you haven’t ready Tactical Flashlights for Self-Defense Part 1 feel free to read it here. Otherwise, let’s jump to it.

What to Look for in a Self-Defense Flashlight

So as a reminder, here are a few things we look for in a tactical flashlight that can aid in self-defense:

  • Power
  • Bezel
  • Momentary On
  • One-Touch Strobe
  • One-Touch Turbo

A good self-defense flashlight should have at least three of the things on this list, but preferably more. Each flashlight that we list has at least three of these features. The flashlights we picked vary a bit because everyone has different needs and when it comes to safety you want to make sure to have a tool that’s comfortable for you. With that in mind, let’s get started.

Tactical Self-Defense Flashlights

Fenix TK20R

If you’re looking for a straightforward tactical flashlight without the bells and whistles, then the Fenix TK20R is just right for you! It delivers 1000 lumens and is operated with the tail switch and side switch. The tail switch can turn ON and OFF the flashlight while the side switch gives you access to the different brightness levels. To access the strobe mode the flashlight needs to be on and then you hold the side switch down for half a second. The TK20R is also USB rechargeable and features a handy battery capacity indicator.

So the first thing you might notice with the Fenix TK20R is the bezel. It has a really great bezel on it that would be perfect for self-defense. At the same time, the bezel isn’t so huge that the flashlight is cumbersome to carry around. It does have a strobe function, though it may be an issue for some that the flashlight needs to be turned on in order to access the strobe mode. It’s definitely powerful enough that you can disorient someone just by turning it onto the turbo mode! It does have momentary-on as well. To see more on the Fenix TK20R check it out here!

Klarus XT30R

This is the biggest flashlight on the list. The XT30R is a little less than 10 inches in length, but with the included holster it’s not too difficult to carry around. It delivers 1800 lumens and is operated with a side switch and/or a dual tactical tail switch. The tail switches and side switch operate independently so you can choose which you’d prefer. Also, the XT30R features two operation settings: the Outdoor Mode and the Tactical Mode. In the Tactical Mode you have access to one-touch turbo, one-touch strobe, and cycling through the four brightness levels. With the Outdoor Mode you have one-touch turbo, one-touch low, and cycling through the brightness levels.

Some extra features of this light include the magnetic charging port that allows for easy and convenient charging. It does come with the included magnetic charging cable that plugs into any USB device to charge. So you can charge your XT30R while working on the computer if you want. The magnetic charging cable self-locates when within an inch of the magnetic port which is quite nifty! The magnetic port also doubles as a battery capacity indicator and a charging indicator.

So not only does this flashlight have impressive power, but it also has a momentary-on, one-touch turbo, one-touch strobe, and a small strike bezel. Not to mention, if the situation came down to it, you could probably use the XT30R has a baton which is why I put this larger tactical flashlight in this list. MecArmy SGN7

Looking at the opposite end of the spectrum, the MecArmy SGN7 is the smallest flashlight we have on our list. Don’t let the size fool you though, it packs a lot of power and is ready for emergencies. I wanted to include this flashlight for people who prefer a light that can easily fit in a pocket or bag. It even has a handy little pocket clip. The SGN7 delivers 550 lumens and has four different brightness levels to choose from. It’s USB rechargeable which is very convenient. One very unique feature that it has is it can function as a power bank. So if your phone or other USB device needs a bit of extra power you can use the SGN7 to power it.

This flashlight is the ultimate emergency EDC flashlight. If your phone is dead and your car starts having issues you can use the SGN7 to charge your phone enough to make a phone call. Also, the SGN7 features two switches. The first switch turns ON and OFF the flashlight and cycles through the brightness levels. The second switch activates a strobe mode and a shrieking alarm up to 110 dB. So the SGN7 does have a one-touch strobe and has an included alarm to help alert people and let them know you need help. See more on the MecArmy SGN7 here.

There are tons of great tactical flashlights that can help you in an emergency situation. I could go on and on about each of the flashlights I listed here and even flashlights I haven’t listed here.
