The Outdoor Flashlight Just Got an Upgrade with the Klarus G20L

Klarus is still wowing us with all their awesome new flashlights they’ve been coming out with! We’re excited to share with you today that Klarus has released another amazing flashlight - the Klarus G20L! This is an upgraded version of the awesome Klarus G20. Be ready to be amazed by this newest flashlight! We’re expected to ship it around November 15th and you can pre-order your G20L here! Let’s not waste any time and just dive right into the details.

The Klarus G20L vs the Klarus G20

First, let’s talk a bit about what the difference between the original Klarus G20 is and the new and upgraded G20L is. The main differences are in the body style, the LED, the reflector, and the beam throw. As you can see, the head on the G20L is cone-shaped rather than flush with the body like the G20. This is because of the newly designed reflector that allows the G20L to have a beam throw of 300 meters! That’s double the length of the G20’s beam throw! Also, the G20 is equipped with a CREE XHP70 N4 LED while the G20L is equipped with a CREE XHP70.2 P2 LED. Even though there is a difference in LEDs, both flashlights deliver 3000 lumens of power

Features of the Klarus G20L

The Klarus G20L is packed to the brim with tons of features that flashlight users will love. While we would call it more of an outdoor flashlight, it has some tactical features as well giving it more versatility. Without further ado, let’s get to talking about all those magnificent features.

Brightest Outdoor Flashlight Klarus G20L

Powerfully Bright Outdoor Flashlight

We’ve already mentioned that the Klarus G20L delivers 3000 lumens. That’s a ton of lumens for a flashlight that fits comfortably in your hands and is compact enough to easily carry in the holster or in a small shoulder bag. The flashlight is less than 6 inches in length and the head is less than 2 inches wide. This flashlight probably wouldn’t be a pocket flashlight, but it’s still compact and lightweight enough to carry.

As we mentioned before, the G20L features a brand new reflector design! The reflector is very deep set and has an orange peel texture. This means that you’ll get a wonderful balance of spotlight and floodlight. With the original G20, it was all flood and could illuminate everywhere around you very well but didn’t have too much distance to it. The G20L has an amazing amount of flood and an awesome spotlight as well so you get the best of both worlds!

Simple User Interface

The G20L is easily operated using either the tail switch or the side switch. Both switches work independently so you can choose which switch you’d prefer using at any given moment. While the tail switch will always turn onto the turbo brightness level giving you instant access to the turbo level at all times, the side switch has a built-in memory function and will automatically turn onto the last brightness level you used. While you may be concerned about the G20L accidentally turning on in your holster or bag, we can assure you Klarus has thought of that. Thanks to the lock out function, you don’t need to worry about accidental illumination. To lock out your G20L simply hold down the tail switch and side switch for a couple of seconds and the flashlight is locked out. To get out off lock out mode all you need to do is triple tap either switch and you’re good to go!

The G20L features four brightness levels and two flashing modes in case of emergencies. The brightness levels are: Turbo - 3000 lumens, High - 650 lumens, Medium - 150 lumens, and Low - 15 lumens. With these four brightness levels you have quite a bit of versatility. With the G20L you also have a one-touch turbo and a one-touch low which is convenient for any outdoor activity. The strobe mode and the SOS mode are emergency modes that can be used in dire situations. It never hurts to be prepared.

USB Rechargeable Flashlight Klarus G20L

USB Rechargeable

Another reason this flashlight is very convenient is that it’s USB rechargeable. Located on the side of the flashlight you’ll find a micro USB port protected by a silicone cover. You can charge the G20L anytime using your computer, your wall adapter, or car adapter. The flashlight has a handy little charging indicator (it’s also a battery capacity indicator, but we’ll get to that in a minute) located on the side switch. If it’s glowing red that means your flashlight is charging. If it’s glowing green that means it’s charged and if it’s glowing orange that means it’s unable to charge for one reason or another.

The G20L runs on a 26650 battery that Klarus includes with your purchase of the G20L. It’s always nice when the battery is included with the flashlight! The G20L only runs on a 26650 battery so don’t try using 18650s, CR123s, 16340s, or any other battery. The side switch also doubles as a battery power indicator that gives you a fairly specific idea of where your battery’s charge is at. If it glows green then your battery is 70-100% charged. If it glows orange then your battery is 30-70% charged. If it glows red your battery is 10-30% charged and if it is flashing red then it’s time to charge the battery because it has less than a 10% charge.

Durable LED Flashlight Klarus G20L

Durable Outdoor Flashlight

One thing you can be sure about when you buy a Klarus flashlight is that the material is high-quality and the flashlight is durable and long-lasting. Let’s talk about the outside of the flashlight first. It’s constructed from an aerospace grade aluminum alloy and is completed with a hard anodized finish giving it that beautifully matte and sleek look. You can see that it has excellent heat dissipation grooves along the head and the body to keep the flashlight and you protected from the heat. To protect the LED, it has a tempered glass lens with AR coating that is scratch resistant. The G20L also has a nice textured pattern on the body so you can easily grip the flashlight without worrying about it slipping.

Looking at the inside, the G20L has front and rear mounted springs that protect the battery from accidental drops. This makes the G20L impact resistant up to 1 meter. It’s also waterproof up to IPX8 standards so you don’t need to worry about taking the flashlight out in a rain storm. It also has a smart ITS (Intelligent Temperature Protection System) that monitors the internal temperature of the flashlight and adjusts the output so that the flashlight can safely perform consistently at its best.

Klarus has truly impressed us with the new G20L. It has so many features and is still easy to use. It doesn’t take a long time at all to learn. Just play around with the flashlight a bit, read the instruction manual, and you get the hang of it in no time. If you’re looking for a new outdoor flashlight that you can rely on then check out the G20L! We’re expecting it to ship around November 15th so you can pre-order yours today here!
