What's the Difference Between the Fenix TK47 and TK47 UE?
Recently added several new Fenix products ranging from tactical LED flashlights to headlamps. If you’d like to see the products we added you can visit the blog here or just check out our Fenix products here. Even though we added quite the variety, two of the flashlights are quite similar, the TK47 and the TK47 UE (Ultimate Edition). So today we’ll be talking about the difference between these two incredible LED flashlights!
The Differences in the Brightest Flashlights
So the first and most obvious difference is the amount of lumens each flashlight delivers. The TK47 is equipped with a CREE XHP35 HI LED and delivers 1300 lumens. The TK47 UE is equipped with a CREE XHP70 LED and delivers 3200 lumens. The Ultimate Edition version certainly has significantly more power, almost 1000 extra lumens! So if you want pure power than the Ultimate Edition is the way to go.
However, the TK47 has a maximum beam throw of 700 meters whereas the Ultimate Edition has a max beam throw of 400 meters. This difference in beam throws is in part to the reflectors these flashlights have. The TK47 features a smooth reflector, optimal for throwing the light incredibly far. The TK47 UE, on the other hand, has an orange peel reflector that gives the flashlight more of a floody beam. This is a major difference between the two flashlights. If you want a wider beam pattern and possibly more power then the TK47 UE is the way to go. If you’re wanting an incredibly pointed beam with a long beam throw then the TK47 is for you!
Another difference between these two LED flashlights is the runtimes. The runtimes on the TK47 are better than the Ultimate Edition. In the Turbo mode the TK47 can run 1 hour and 50 minutes while the TK47 UE can run for an hour. In the low mode the Tk47 can run 220 hours whereas the TK47 UE can run for 170 hours. The runtimes for the TK47 are truly impressive!
The Similarities in the Brightest Flashlights
Aside from the fact that they look and feel exactly the same, there is one major similarity that makes these two flashlights amazing: the diffused tail light. The tail light is operated independently from the main light by using the tail switch (the main light is operated with the side switch). This tail light is wonderful because you can set the flashlight up, turn it on, and light up the area completely hands-free. On both flashlights the main light and tail light have four brightness modes each. The tail light features a white LED light and a red LED light. The red light is a really nice option so you can use it without disrupting your night vision.
There are a few more similarities to note with the TK47 and the TK47 UE. There is a lockout function for the side switch so you don’t have to worry about the flashlight turning on while in the holster or while in your bag. Both flashlights also feature a built-in memory function which is an excellent feature for any illumination tool to have. With this feature you can prevent blinding yourself in enclosed spaces with the turbo or high mode. You can also easily conserve the battery!
Both of these flashlights are incredible lights that can be used for camping, professional work, or for other outdoor activities. To learn more about the Fenix TK47 you can visit thispage. To learn more about the Fenix TK47 UE visit this page.
