Which One: the MecArmy SGN3 or MecArmy SGN7?

One of our favorite aspects about MecArmy is just how unique their LED flashlights are. It’s obvious that they want to bring people what they need in an illumination tool and a little something extra. It’s that something extra I want to talk about today. For example, the MecArmy SPX10 and SPX18 look and have features that are common in any tactical flashlight. However, MecArmy created a unique tailcap switch that allows you to activate the strobe mode from any angle! That’s pretty awesome and that’s just one example.

I wanted to focus on the SGN3 and the SGN7 because these are truly unique and innovative flashlights that look similar but have their own different features. With both of these lights the first thing you notice is the size and shape of them. They’re both ultra compact and could easily fit comfortably in your pocket. I like the flat shape of them because they don’t add any bulk to your pockets. Some flashlights can stick out a little oddly from your pocket but the SGN3 and SGN7 are flatter so they just rest comfortably in your pockets.

Differences Between the MecArmy SGN3 and SGN7

Both of these LED flashlights are multi functional, but they each have different functions so to speak. With the SGN3, it features 3 different colored LEDs: white, red, and blue (or UV) which can all be operated using the single side switch. The SGN3 delivers 160 lumens which is a great amount of light for a small keychain flashlight. By using the red LED at night you preserve your night vision while allowing you to see in front of you. The UV light can help you detect fluid trails if you’re hunting or allows you to check if the money you were given is counterfeit. The SGN3 is also USB rechargeable and completely charges in 90 minutes!

The SGN7 is a bit larger than the SGN3, but it also delivers 550 lumens so in terms of brightness it certainly has the SGN3 beat. Rather than one side switch, the SGN7 has two, one main and one triangular secondary one. The main one operates the flashlight, but the other one activates the strobe mode along with a very loud alarm which will definitely draw attention. If you find yourself walking home or to your car in the darkness and you’re worried about your safety, this light might be the perfect companion for you. That’s not the only unique feature of the SGN7 though. It’s also USB rechargeable and can actually function as a powerbank to give your device a little extra boost! The SGN7 is a great emergency flashlight.
